As an undergraduate student at Loyola University Chicago, I developed a passion for arts accessibility, particularly open captioning and low budget accessibility for theatre. This has led me to work as an accessibility coordinator and open captioner for About Face Theatre.
At Loyola, I implemented an opening captioning program for mainstage theatre productions, conducted university research, and attended the Kennedy Center LEAD Conference to learn more about arts accessibility. As the culmination of my Accessibility Initiative, I presented my research at Loyola's 2020 Undergraduate Research Symposium, including the results of audience surveys. See my presentation here!
As Accessibility Coordinator for About Face Theatre's productions of Modern Gentleman, The Brightest Thing in the World, Mosque4Mosque, and Gender Play, or What You Will, I created low budget captions for select performances.
